An old sailors' trick for creating non-skid is to paint the deck and then throw rock salt on the paint. After the paint dries, wash the deck down with fresh water. The salt dissolves and the deck ends up with tiny fissures that make it hard to slip. I've never known anyone who actually did it. Mike
