any chance of a video link for the conference presentations?
Re your magnetometer; I am currently building a hex copter with a Pixhawke
flight controller. It may interest you. It has a magnetometer, barometer, gyroscope, accelerometer & open source software. They have been used on ROVs. 
I am looking at using one for radio control of thrusters & controlling ballast valves
Amongst other things. 
Don't ask me too many questions about it as I haven't got in to detail on it yet.
