Hi Sean,
it was clear vinyl tube 16mm OD. Attached to an anodised barb fitting.
Maybe I should have used two crimp fittings. 
I just used a heat gun on some tube & you can get it quite soft. I am
thinking that crimping or tightening a hose clamp on it while it's soft
may be an advantage.
There was no overpressure in the system as would be happening if it was 
on a sub.
