Some are cylinders<br id="yui_3_16_0_1_1479927388118_3231">stacked inside a square container, sometimes stacked vertical, sometimes<br id="yui_3_16_0_1_1479927388118_3232">horizontal; so lots of air pockets. Others are plates.<br id="yui_3_16_0_1_1479927388118_3233">In the case of SWE the battery internals can take massive pressure, but<br id="yui_3_16_0_1_1479927388118_3234">you couldn't guarantee that with every battery on the market. I would<br id="yui_3_16_0_1_1479927388118_3235">assume they could but wouldn't be positive.<br id="yui_3_16_0_1_1479927388118_3236">If I were doing a hack I would get a dead battery of the type I was looking<br id="yui_3_16_0_1_1479927388118_3237">at & cut the top off to see how I would do it. (did that with my AGM battery hack)<br id="yui_3_16_0_1_1479927388118_3238">You could possibly take the tops off the batteries or drill holes in the<br id="yui_3_16_0_1_1479927388118_3239">tops of every cell to let any air escape when you oil filled them. Then<br id="yui_3_16_0_1_1479927388118_3240">put your battery pack in a box with a neoprene diagphram over the top & oil fill.<br id="yui_3_16_0_1_1479927388118_3241">Like Hank is intending to do, or they do with the Deep Sea Power & Light<br id="yui_3_16_0_1_1479927388118_3242">Sea Battery (AGM).<br id="yui_3_16_0_1_1479927388118_3243">My lithium batteries don't have individual cel balancing electronics that I<br id="yui_3_16_0_1_1479927388118_3244">can see. Some have them external to the battery. All I required was a 48V<br id="yui_3_16_0_1_1479927388118_3245">battery charger if I was assembling 4 x 12V into a 48V pack.<br id="yui_3_16_0_1_1479927388118_3246">Hugh's batteries were a bit more complex & he had a bad experience through<br id="yui_3_16_0_1_1479927388118_3247">not regularly charging them.<br id="yui_3_16_0_1_1479927388118_3248">Having said all that, when I talked with SWE I believe they were applying <br id="yui_3_16_0_1_1479927388118_3249">for ABS type approval, or something similar. If you are wanting certification<br id="yui_3_16_0_1_1479927388118_3250">you may get knocked back on a lithium battery hack.<br id="yui_3_16_0_1_1479927388118_3251">If it were me I would go & see them & pick their brains.
