[PSUBS-MAILIST] PSUBS launches SUBNOTE

To all members:

Today, I am announcing the launch of SUBNOTE, a formal “Notice to Submariners” system for submersible operators.

SUBNOTE is analogous to NOTAMs in aviation and provides advance notification of local restrictions, required approvals, and safety considerations—essentially anything that helps operators plan dives responsibly and safely.

SUBNOTE exists to give the submersible community a reliable, centralized source of information. By maintaining a single repository, we reduce reliance on word-of-mouth, prevent misunderstandings, and ensure that members have accurate, up-to-date information. The system also allows PSUBS to track trends, identify emerging issues, and advocate effectively to protect access and preserve the integrity of the hobby.  Additionally, familiarity with SUBNOTE helps members protect the hobby, preserve access to dive sites, and ensure that authorities have the information they need to respond effectively in an emergency.

While our current SUBNOTE library provides guidance for U.S. waters, the system is intended for use by members worldwide and may include operational considerations in any other geographical jurisdiction as appropriate.

Please help us keep SUBNOTE effective and up to date.  If you encounter any operational restrictions, approval requirements, or other issues that could benefit fellow submariners, please report them to PSUBS promptly. Your observations will allow us to create accurate SUBNOTEs, ensuring that all members have reliable information and that the community can continue to operate safely and responsibly.
