Rick sounds like a bad potentiometer. Minn Kota controllers often have a potentiometer on the controller. The two outer legs are ground and 5 Vdc signal from the motor controller, the third leg is the wiper leg, which is used to send a 0-5 vdc signal the motor controller. 0 vdc is full speed in one direction, 5 vdc is full speed in the opposite direction and 2.5 vdc is the neutral position with no rotation. There is a dead band around the 2.5 vdc level. Check the wiper leg of the potentiometer with a multimeter and confirm it is giving a 0-5 vdc signal as you rotate the potentiometer. If not replace it.

I am going through all the systems before her first launch and noted that my starboard Minn-Kota thruster when energised goes full power in one direction only and then stops quickly when the rheostat is rotated all the way in one direction. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot something like that?I also bought a bottle of sika flex primer for installing the conical viewport in the hatch which is a metal to acrylic situation and used first before bedding the surface with the sika flex goopy and use about a tablespoon of the $85 bottle and don't need it anymore so if anyone would like it, you can have it.
