The reostat has 2 wires, potentiometer has 3 and works as a voltage divider.All of the modern motor controllers have potentiometers. I have just set up a motor speed controller but are using a joy stick, which you may want to switch to. Just find one with the same value as the potentiometer you are using. You can get "spring to centre" so if you let go you get zero speed. Just a bit easier than a dial.Alan
