[PSUBS-MAILIST] Titan submersible missing at Titanic site

I just opened my folder on composite structures for submarines and 
submersibles. There are 28 items listed, going back to the early 1960s, 
and I wasn't looking very hard because I was pretty sure that there were 
no reliable sources here (Philippines) for the materials.

It strikes me as odd that, with the likes of NASA and the David Taylor 
Model basin sponsoring or carrying out research on this topic, the use 
of composites is still considered unproven.

Why is this?
