This unfortunate situation does serve as a reminder that we should review our own safety guidelines and how we organize our own dive events in the future.  It is also a reminder that accidents/mistakes can happen and it pays to be as safety orientated and prepared as we can be.  This is a difficult loss and we should use lessons we can learn from it to make our own adventures safer.
Additionally, it's not clear to me at this point if this incident might bring restrictions to recreational underwater exploration however we should be prepared to fight for our ability to do so without undue encumbrances.
