A little out of subject bounds but I have successfully implemented a wireless personal weather station using two Raspberry Pi microprocessors.? An outside unit collects data from sensors and transfers that information via wireless 2.4ghz ethernet to a display inside the house.? Both collector and display use Raspberry Pi B with USB wifi adapters.? I've been running this configuration 24/7 for about a month without any network breakdown. While I'm still quite happy with the performance of the TEENSY processor for the SEM project, this does open the door for wireless communication between sensors and controllers within the submarine cabin as well as providing all the conveniences that come with a full operating system such as writing log files and storing captured information.? And of course, using a laptop, notebook, or phone to remote control everything via VNC. I used Python on the remote "collector" unit to interface with the sensors and continue to use Processing Language for the graphics on the display unit.? Both computer languages have a large user base and many implementation examples on the Internet.? Both also support Sockets for network communication, which was tricky to implement but has proven to be as robust as I expected it to be. Anyway, the saga continues. Plan A Planning a cross country RV trip. Could bring a 10 foot inflatable support boat, act as support divers. If RVing, we also plan to attend EAA Airventure in Oshkosh WI July 25 -31, so hopefully the dates would not conflict. Plan B Fly in (airline) with scuba equipment, would be able to act as support divers on non-technical scuba. Plan C - Not really feasible Unlikely to drive in with the semi-dry ambient sub in tow. It's just too far from Vancouver. Sorry, although we want to attend, we are unable to commit to any of the plans at this time. Apologies it has taken me a spell to respond to this planning email. As far as dates, it's easier to give the dates I'm NOT available: April 20 - 30. May 28 - 31. June 25 - 26. July 5 - 7. August 13 -14. Other than that, I'm wide open. That said, I'd like to attend this event if possible, but please don't try to work around my schedule... if I make it I make it, if I don't I don't. Snoopy is not functional yet, but I did manage to score a 25 HP lightweight Yamaha outboard for the new 12 foot Zodiac. I could bring the boat if needed for crewing, but probably won't bring it unless requested (don't need more stuff there than we can handle). But it's available if it would be useful. If the event falls on dates other than what I've listed and you folks would like the inflatable, I will make a firm commitment to attending. I'm sorry that I've (yet again) been distant from the PSUBS group! I will not lie that I've been busy building an airplane and not working on Snoopy (sorry - but I want to get my grandpa in the air before he passes!). ~ Douglas On Mon, Feb 7, 2022 at 11:07 AM Cliff Redus via Personal_Submersibles > wrote: Jon, thanks for your coordination of PEX2022. My available dates: First three weeks in April, May, Last week June, July and August PLEASE RESPOND IF... 1) As of this moment, I plan on bringing the R300 assuming I can talk one of my mates into going with me if date fits. 2) If for some reason, I cannot bring the R300, I would be willing to server as Surface Operations Coordinators (SOC) for one of the boats. This event is open to all members as participant or spectator.? We have just a little over two months to finalize all details, which actually is not a lot of time so we will need to all work together to get everything in order.?? First, let me share that we have six diving submarines, six surface vessels, and three surface operations officials (SOO) currently committed to the event.? Please contact me at jon.wallace at yahoo.com if you would like to add your submarine or offer your services as well. We expect to hold a community outreach "Public Display" which is open to all submarines whether dive-ready or not.? If your vessel is under construction, retrofit, or has just become a lawn ornament we invite you to bring it for static display.? Regardless of condition we always find each vessel interesting to view and inspect. ACTION ITEMS---------------------1) LOGISTICS (lodging, restaurants, suppliers, services).? PSUBS member Bernie Hellstrom is our local contact and will be doing much of the legwork in this area.? He already has a good handle on suppliers and services which we will document and publish well before the event takes place including any anticipated costs.? We will rely on Bernie to make recommendations for local restaurants and lodging.? I hope to have lodging solidified no later than March 31. 2) PILOTS.? There are a number of diving logistics we need to agree upon and plan for that affect only submarine pilots.? I would like to hold a ZOOM meeting so we can discuss particulars in real-time and quickly reach consensus.? I will send a separate email with a suggested date/time for such a meeting. 3) MEMBERSHIP.? On January 1, many memberships lapsed.? This would be a great time to renew.
