Alan,I have painted the seat with Gel Coat 4 times and sanded it down with a fixture in the flange  machine.  I replace the cutter with a sandpaper holder and sand mechanically to ensure roundness and flatness.  The flatness is measured with a strait  edge and a light on the back side of the edge.  The roundness will be checked against the dome. Hank

Mission accomplished. This is the new seat after machining to 90 degrees and boring out to 11.5 inches. Hank
