[PSUBS-MAILIST] Hatch problem

Hank:

The hatch is 26" od with a 4" rise and 1" thick. I had a opportunity to inspect the USN X-1 built in 1955 and its hatch was no more than 3/8" thick. I could do another spring but if it ever failed there is no way I could lift it.

I would hate to have to make a new hatch!
